BJJ Commons

An open-source reference for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: positions, techniques, and the chains that connect them.

I started jiu-jitsu as an adult beginner at Park Slope Academy under Marc Adami, and got into the habit of recording voice notes about his lessons on my walk home.

BJJ Commons is those notes, organized, and open-sourced. The idea is the one that works for software: put what you learn somewhere shared, let anyone correct it, keep the history, and it gets more useful day by day. Everyone who trains is carrying around a version of the same book. This is an attempt to write it down together.

It’s no-gi so far, because that’s what I train; gi is welcome. So are corrections. I’m a white belt, and the pages will be wrong in places until people who know better fix them.
